Globalisation (8): kid on coke in Tibet

The story behind "Globalisation (8): kid on coke in Tibet"

always…

The kids drink the last drops out of the cans of coca-cola, discarded by tourists passing through this dusty town of Tingri, Tibet.

Yesterday it was announced that the Chinese will fully pave the 108km/65 miles of unpaved road towards Everest BC so that the people carrying the Olympic flame do not get sore feet. For the environment this seems to be bad, though it will mean less exhaust per car there will be many more cars in total. Locals like this boy will get more western influence than just coke cans, is that good or bad?
