When going South for a trip to Antarctica, you should take some extra time and explore this wonderful park. You can do a non-technical trekking from a day hike to a circuit of more than a week. Or you can try to climb the Torres, more than a mile of vertical rock!
I had taken my clients to the plane to Antarctica, delayed, but just before x-mas. I had a few spare days as the next group would only arrive the 28th, so I took a bus to the North, rented a car and drove around in the park. Gorgeous views from gravelroads, with Guanacos everywhere. My tent was already on the ice, and though I could rent one there, I just rolled out my mat and spent X-mas under the stars.
This shot is taken from one of the campsites, across one of the many lakes. I spent a few hours with my tripod for this and other shots, while seeing nobody else. Truly a beautiful area. Marry X-mas!
